Media Distortion

     Everyone knows that the media distorts everything to their own will. They make us see it as they wish to be viewed. Like the recent big fiasco by NBC news. 

If you don’t know what happened they aired a part of the audio tape of George Zimmerman and his conversation with the police dispatcher as he trailed Trayvon Martin. Only issue here though, they edited the tape. Now I am not defending George Zimmerman or Accusing him. I am simply explaining what happened. Don’t get it mixed up! 

They started it off by the line you hear of Zimmerman say “He’s Black”. Now if thats all you hear then the rest of what happened you assume he is a racist and judgmental prick. But they didn’t air the fact that the dispatcher right before that ASKED him if the suspect was white, black, or hispanic. By leaving out that question it distorts the story. Now the media as we know has already played judge and jury on this story anyways. And it makes the investigation worse because through these different stories they release it distorts the TRUTH. Now that makes the investigation worse, and don’t be surprised if Zimmerman is arrested and put on trial then set free. Not because he is innocent, but because the government knows that if they don’t do something their will be a national outrage. Look at the protest already nationwide of people calling for Zimmerman to be arrested. My own personal opinion is that Zimmerman should at least be charged with homicide or manslaughter. Thats my personal opinion though I can only base on what I have heard from the media, and different media outlets twist it to their own view. Very rare do you find an unbiased news source. If you find one, please let me know of it. 

The protest nationwide go off what the media outlets release, they will make more money if they continue to stoke the fire. Honestly the whole Arrest Zimmerman protest are a call for justice, but they will turn into a lynch mob if Zimmerman ends up being innocent or not going to trial. Look at what happened to Casey Anthony, everyone thought she should be in jail, yet she is now released and living free. How many people actually knew what evidence was presented in that court case? Because obviously enough to convince her jury of peers that she was innocent. So before you judge and demand justice, maybe, just maybe, wait for the actual trial to decide the fate. NOT let the media DISTORT the story like they tend to do.

Care What People Think

      How often do you hear people say, “you shouldn’t care what people think, just be yourself and ignore them” Now here is where I am going to say you should care what people think. Absurd right?

      Sorry I know this is supposed to be a political setting, but I choose to extend it to what I feel like, because I can. So enjoy my rambling if you haven’t closed this window yet.

     But here is what you should do that will give you more success and take you farther in life. Is if you care about what people think of you, that’s your reputation, you want that to have a good one with people you know so that it poses you in better standing. That’s why you should care. Don’t let people affect you by their opinions you hear. But listen to them, because how other people see you is a huge aspect to life. 

Think of this. Would you rather people see you as an insufferable asshole that is narrowminded and has no smart opinions, or they view you as smart, respectful, and a good person to hang with? To me that’s pretty simple. 

So yeah care what they think, don’t let it create who you are. But use it to judge where you stand with them and others. Because sometimes you may need to work on people skills and that is one way to measure that. Now don’t take each persons individual opinion but if you hear a consistent piece describing you, then maybe its bad maybe its great. if you don’t like it work on it, if not, well you do you.

Trayvon Martin, Hoodies, Self-Defense, and the Failure of Our Justice System Through the Media

Everyone at this point has probably heard the story about Trayvon Martin being shot to death by George Zimmerman. If you haven’t….well you should check the news more often. Since everyone knows the story so far, I will only focus on certain aspects that have been given to us via mainstream media networks. 

Lets start with Trayvon Martin. For a while all that was told was the he was 17, African-American, wearing a hoodie, and walking back to his house carrying an iced tea and a bag of skittles during the intermission of the NBA All Star game. Then last week we are told that he also had been on his cell phone with his girlfriend who has remained anonymous….for now. Where her account is Trayvon knew he was being followed and she said he should run but he said he wasn’t going to. Now revealing all this is very important and RELEVANT to the case. Now again a couple days ago it was released that Trayvon had been suspended from school that day for having an empty bag of marijuana in his back pack, and as I just discovered, a year ago he was caught spray  painting a wall at his school. All right so he was your average teen. Going through the rebel stage of life, how many of you tried marijuana in high school? Guarantee its more than 80% tried it at least once. Now realize this, for the case being investigated, those facts are IRRELEVANT! The media saw it fit to dig this up, and now Craig Sonner (George Zimmerman’s lawyer) says that since he was obviously not a perfect child, he was looking suspicious. Regardless of what Trayvon did before that night that does not affect or should be used or revealed to the public. Regardless of what he did, it is not a part of the investigation, yet it is. Why is that? Because the media is giving the trial before any arrests have been made.  

The hoodie that made him look suspicious? George Zimmerman, who had been arrested twice previously (one for assault on a  police officer, the other for domestic abuse) and by taking plea deals was able to carry a gun. Since when are hoodies grounds for being suspicious? Its night, even in florida it can get a bit chilly at night. So a hoodie is what makes him suspicious? Now that is what the media has said and what George Zimmerman has claimed. Did it have anything to do with the fact he was black, and in a gated community predominantly white? The media has avoided saying that DIRECTLY, but its obviously what most people think. For some reason even in this day and age, blacks are still regarded as more suspicious, more likely to do drugs, more likely to etc.  Include any stereotype to that. So the claim that it was the hoodie that made him suspicious to me is bull and how someone dresses isn’t grounds to follow them or call the police on them. No lets say what everyone is thinking, its because Trayvon was black in a gated community.

Self-Defense, lets really look at this situation. George Zimmerman was on the phone with a police dispatcher saying he was following Trayvon and then was told NOT to continue following him. So not only does Zimmerman continue to follow him, he approaches Trayvon, where, remember Trayvon was already on edge about the man following him. So to be approached suddenly, and realize he has a gun on him, I would probably start throwing punches as well. According to the police report and supposed injuries that Zimmerman accrued during their supposed fight. 

So if anyone in the world can explain to me how initiating contact, while armed, outwieghing the other person by 40 pounds, obviously bigger, and been told by police not to follow the suspicious person. Then the person YOU FOLLOWED is suddenly dead. HOW IS IT SELF DEFENSE FOR YOU?????

Not only that but surveillance video released today show that Zimmerman had NO injuries as he claimed when he was brought in for questioning before being released later that night.  

Now the failure of the investigation, is obviously for the Sanford, Florida Police Department. Yet that is not where our justice system has failed. It has failed courtesy of the media. The media by releasing irrelevant facts about Trayvon. The suspension was not relevant at all to the investigation. Yet they had to bring it up.  

“Well how is George Zimmermans criminal record relevant then? ” A valid question.
But someone who has a violent history on record, that becomes relevant. When they got released from two assault cases and now possibly a homicide case. It plays a factor into his own possibly way of acting. Hence why they keep those records.  

Now I understand the media needs to be where the news is, and this is the hot topic at the moment. But by doing this they are taking away George Zimmermans right to a fair trial. As no matter where he goes for a trial, as I am confident it will. And if it doesn’t. I can almost guarantee some type of vigilante justice on him either way. I understand reporting developments in where the investigation goes. But not to release everything as they find it. It allows us to pre-judge and takes away his right to a fair trial. Where now, I am sure when he goes to trial he will be convicted as guilty to premeditated murder. The media took away his trial, he has already had his trial, and been judged by the public. All it takes is a real court for it. Which will be coming soon is my guess.

My own personal opinion, please keep in mind that this is just MY opinion. George Zimmerman was looking for a fight that night. From the recorded call to the police station where he is told not to follow, and states “These assholes always get away”. To me he judged Trayvon as suspicious because he was black, after being told not to follow him, he decided to take the law in his own hands. He became the judge, the jury, and the executioner. He went looking for the fight and therefore his self defense claim is garbage. I believe if he is not convicted by the court system, he will face retribution in another form of vigilante justice taken out on him  by outraged people. It is a tragedy Trayvon Martins life ended how it did at so young. But George Zimmerman is responsible for it, and he made the plan to do so I believe from the moment he was told not to follow. He knew he had the gun, size, and chose to initiate the whole process. That is why I feel he should face prison time. His lawyer has been jet setting to talk shows, and walked out on Laurence O’Donnell, instead of getting a defense set for his own client. To me that is wrong either way where he should be with his client. Not on the today show! Clearly George Zimmerman will face justice, whether through the courts, or through batman-esque vigilantism. His days as a free man are numbered. And he brought it on himself.

The Rudeness and Narrow Minded Views of People

 Well with this whole blog thing I have been going with that is fairly new. Some people send me great feedback and are actually intelligent and agree with me and offer new insight to what I have talked about so far. A whopping three different topics! Then I have had a couple that have disagreed but at least been polite enough to keep it respectful and I can have an intelligent conversation about it. And I enjoy that honestly, I like knowing the other side so I can see what their viewpoints are and then find ways to counter them. Now here’s the third type I have talked to that really is irritating. 
  

I understand if you don’t agree with me, I don’t expect everyone to. But when you start messaging me just ignorant messages saying that gays aren’t people because its not natural, or that Obama should not be president simply because he is black. Honestly, its bull shit in my eyes. To be so narrow minded that those are your only arguments! REALLY??? You think anyone at all is going to listen to you based on those view points. If that is your only damn argument, I don’t want to waste my time with it. As do very few if any other person. If you are not a fan of Barack Obama, actually give me reasons why you don’t like him! Not because “Its his fault we are at war” or “He’s black”, or “He wasn’t born in America, he isn’t a U.S. citizen.” 

OK, now I am not necessarily a fan of Obama, but I am also not against him either. Look at those three very popular themes I have heard not just personally but in the mainstream media as well. The thought about it being his fault we are at war. If anyone bothers to remember, George W. Bush got us in both Iraq and Afghanistan in our mad hunt for Saddam Hussien and Osama Bin Laden. So understand that the PREVIOUS PRESIDENT, not the CURRENT PRESIDENT got us into the wars after 9/11.

Well what did Obama do about either of those wars in his term so far then? Something you might ask me.

Well simple enough, he ended combat operations in Iraq and most troops have been pulled out of there, in fact I don’t think any actual U.S. troops are still stationed there (that’s just speculation don’t quote me on that though). And he has also set a plan to have all troops out of Afghanistan by 2014. So he is responsible for getting us out of one war, and a plan to be out of another. I would say that’s something that’s more positive than negative. But see as you see fit too. 

Next one why they don’t like Obama… “He’s black”. So what is so bad about that? Are we still in the 19th and 20th centuries where apparently being black is inferior. If you still have that issue then I am sorry you really need to rethink your moral choices. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH ANY MINORITY! Just because someone is black, hispanic, white, red, yellow, blue, whatever! Any color is just a color, they are still people and deserve the full rights extended to all people. If you are that ignorant then I honestly think you need mental therapy to fix your shit! 


Third one that was a huge media firestorm a while ago. “He isn’t American”. All right his mom is a U.S. born citizen and his dad was born in Kenya, where he was BORN IN HAWAII! Which happens to be a STATE in case you didn’t pass the 3rd grade. To run for and be elected president I think you have to be able to provide a birth certificate, so for this to have even gotten the attention it did really showed how close minded our country is.

Now I am not saying it is just America with close minded people, I would say its pretty wide spread. Now there are a lot of very respectful people I enjoy having conversations and arguments with on politics because they actually have good view points and not just idiotic and stupid arguments.

Now I am not saying Obama is the only one that people use stupid arguments for, its a multitude of subjects, that was just the example I chose.

So if you don’t agree with me, DO NOT be rude and immediately threaten to kick my ass as a couple have done as you and I both know, that you won’t actually kick my ass since you have no idea where I live, who I am or anything like that! So don’t act tough behind your computer screen. I want to do this to get people to read my ramblings and argue with me if they disagree but in a smart respectful way.

Don’t expect me to waste my time talking to you if you threaten me on a bullshit threat anyways, and then don’t act like I am offending you because I tell you to be mature about any disagreement. I am also a human being, and if you get offended because I use certain language towards you, when you just used the same type of language at me, all I can say is go to hell and don’t act tough behind a computer screen. And have respect regardless if they agree or don’t agree. It will take you a long ways if you do!

Gay Marriage

Lets touch off on one of the most disputed conflicts in America currently. Gay Marriage. For so long being openly gay was considered to be shameful and even illegal in several places well into the 1960’s and early 70’s. Where people took to the streets for the sex revolution during the times of protest and when hippies first came onto the scene. They weren’t all about the environment. 

Yet for some reason gay marriage is still illegal. When nowhere in our constitution does it say that gay marriage is a crime and shouldn’t be allowed. It is illegal because in the bible it claims in Leviticus 18:22 “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination”.  Now that we have established where it claims it is wrong in the bible…..no where in our constitution can you find the same thing. Yet here’s the interesting thing! Our government is supposed to be separate of church and state. So if the church says it wrong…..and our constitution that FOUNDED our government doesn’t. Why is gay marriage illegal? To me that shows the fact that the church is within our government and there is no separation between church and state. Now I understand that religions will often shape ones values and beliefs. But those values and beliefs have to be set aside for our representatives to govern us as they were meant to! Not how they want to. 

The intolerance of gays is almost shameful, answer me this! How does other people being gay affect your daily life? Do they go out of their way to make life difficult for you? I   can’t speak for all gays, but a majority I know, they are very nice people that just want to be accepted. 

When you are out in public and you see a young man and a female perhaps showing each other affection with a quick kiss, you probably think nothing of it and you move on. Yet for some reason if two guys or girls do the same thing, it becomes indecent and shouldn’t be in public. Its a huge double standard and it only makes it an issue when random people passing by, make a scene out of it. The gay couple did nothing to provoke it except what normal non gay couples do. So why does it become an issue right then? 

Now I am not gay or bisexual or anything. I am just your regular run of the mill male that enjoys the company of woman. But why so much hate and anger towards the gay community? Some people say that the country isn’t ready for change where it allows gay marriage. If NOW is not the time to change, when will that time be? The time for change is upon us, and if our country is to move forward from something as petty as gay marriage towards more pressing issues, then we need to accept it and allow them to have equal rights as a married couple. Now I am not saying force the churches to marry gay  people, if its against a religion, they do not have to marry gays. But to let the church shut down gay marriage for so many people, isn’t right and if we legalize gay marriage, it is but a step of again separating church and state. Where right now the duality of the two, is indiscernible. 

What people do in the privacy of their own life is their own business. Ask yourself this. How easy is your own personal life, where what other people do becomes your problem?

Ignorance and Paranoia of Americans

Here’s something that will probably upset you if your American, a majority of us are ignorant. Ignorant to the rest of the world and their issues, ignorant to our own government, and ignorant to everything except whatever directly involves us.

It isn’t something you want to hear I am sure, put a lot of Americans are. How many people knew about the SOPA act before it went to congress and before it got national attention? How many people know what they are working on right now? If you do, congratulations you are aware of the governments inner workings. One thing I feel like people are vastly ignorant of, yet shouldn’t be, is The Patriot Act

You have probably heard of it, but do you actually know what it does? It was signed into law October 26th, 2001. Following the 9/11 attacks. What it did was reduce our daily freedoms we were allowed to have, it expanded the national treasury acts control over financial transactions, restricted information that local governments could gather, and broadened the deportation for terrorist related activities allowing them to harass people suspected and detain for only circumstantial evidence. Lets not get me wrong, I am all for removing terrorist as  threat, but allowing police and the government to harass the general public is something that should not be allowed. When they can just detain you on a suspicion, it undermines the whole government system of “Innocent until proven guilty”. It in fact reverses it where now we are guilty until proven innocent.

Then on May 36th, 2011, President Obama signed a four year extension to three components of the PATRIOT Act.  Being the roving wiretaps, searches of business records, and the lone wolf surveillance. A lone wolf is someone acting on their own with no ties to a terrorist group. 

Now the roving wiretaps, this infringes on our own rights to freedom of speech and literally the government monitors you. While I support capturing terrorist, this takes it too far. Just because someone buys fertilizer and bleach at the same time, doesn’t qualify them as making a pipe bomb. 

the search of business records cuts into the free market. Where they can view every purchase you make if you own a business to monitor excessive purchases and suspicious activity. What qualifies as suspicious though? You would have to have different guidelines for each business type. If a landscaper buys lots of fuel for his machines, what would be considered excessive? Maybe he was hired to do more this year, so how would that make him suspicious? It opens everyone up to being able to be detained on circumstantial evidence and not actual legit substantial evidence that would be needed for an arrest and trial. 

Now who allowed this to happen? Why would they pass this? Those questions you could be wondering. Here’s why!

Because the public population LET IT HAPPEN. When after 9/11 and still to this day, Americans became paranoid. Which is understandable. But now so many of us scream about TSA and their ridiculous guidelines, and the sometimes stupid rules of airports and airplanes. Which we all agreed and allowed to happen at the time, but now are regretting it and want the regulations cut back. Which they won’t be while we are in the middle east. Now this also sadly led to more ignorance. 

The ignorance of Islam as a religion, now not every Muslim is a terrorist, this is common knowledge. That a vast majority are not terrorist. Yet why then, whenever we see an Arab person  often times people will panic and judge them and keep a closer eye on them.  An example, remember with the whole uproar over not allowing the Mosque be built so close to ground zero? This was a prime example of ignorance. Now first off, as our constitution states, for freedom of religion, they had every right to establish a place of worship there. Which many people knew, this is where the ignorance came in. The investors for the establishment were Muslim yes. BUT! What they actually were building was a universal place of worship for all religions. It was to be a multi-level giant church. With churches for Christians and Catholics, Synagogues for the Jewish, Mosque for the Muslims, and Temples for the Buddhist and Hindi religions. To me that was a great idea. It would break down religious barriers as a place of peace and tranquility for all religious denominations. But people nationwide heard Muslim, and they called it an insult to 9/11. I never saw it as an insult. I saw it as them trying to bring peace to all religions where they could retreat and worship their respective gods and practice their beliefs. Yet with a combination of our paranoia and ignorance, we ended up insulting an entire religion. An embarrassing international moment, and we don’t even realize it!

Please understand I am all for capturing terrorist, both foreign and domestic. But when we start taking away our own liberties, it crosses a line and undermines our founding fathers and what they fought for and why they wanted their freedom. It insults those that have died defending this country, it spits on the history of America and its all because a majority of Americans are ignorant and paranoid. I hope you will take the time to learn about what is going on daily within our own borders.

Job Crisis

A big issue in America, and has been for a long time, is the jobs that are now overseas. Now look at it this way, if your a business owner, and you provide material goods to people. Your objective is to make it at the highest quality, as cheap as possible for your cost, to sell it at a fair price to customers. This is the basics of economy and capitalism correct?

Now lets see since you can not make all the products by hand, you must hire people to do it. To pay them for their labor. So input the labor cost, cost of materials, and enough to make a profit, then you have your price for the product. Congratulations you now have a successful business! :D

BUT! The reason those jobs are going to China, India, and Japan. Are all those companies must make a profit to stay in business and provide us with our laptops and cellphones and everything else we use.

So why are those jobs overseas?

Because the cost of living in America is too high!! When someone makes $60,000 a year and struggles to make ends meet, its not ideal. That should be more than enough to be able to have a comfortable lifestyle, yet it isn’t. Now overseas in China and India, those workers work for anywhere for literally 2 or 3 dollars a day!!! This provides them with a lifestyle, not a grand one, but it gets them by. Now unless Americans are willing to work for pennies a day, in piss poor conditions, with no benefits. Which won’t happen. The Jobs overseas, we need to come to grips that they will NOT be coming back to the homeland. As unfortunate as that is. Even if you boycotted and refused to buy the products, your ipods and blackberries, your clothes and everything else that is made overseas. As much as I would love to see them come back, they won’t. Its the reality of it. The companies enjoy making billions of dollars, and there is nothing wrong with that as they earn it by providing us with products that we use daily. Like the computer I am using to type this right now.

SO HERE IS THE SOLUTION!

This is what should be done, instead of screaming for jobs that won’t return. We must make NEW jobs that will not be able to leave. Think of plumbers and all that, we became a service industry country once the factory jobs left for the most part. We funded our own little economy. We need new innovative jobs that will not leave.

What are those jobs you might ask me??? The problem is, I am not smart enough to know what they are. We need ideas, so your more than welcome to toss one out here with the wonderful comment section. Personally, and please this is not an advertisement of any sort, just an idea that I feel would work the best.

Most people call them scams, or pyramid schemes, this is known as Network Marketing! Many of you have heard of Amway and Avon. Where you sign people up and you are a business owner selling products. Now I know of a great network market that works better than any other but I will not name it here to avoid this sounding like more of a commercial than it probably does to you. But please hang in there a bit longer to my rambling.

Why will it work??

If you got your friends into a company and you all bought the products from each other and used it how it was supposed to be, it can be very profitable . The best part, it is separate of the U.S. economy, so no matter what it will always work.

It takes patience though before it will develop to where it will make a huge difference. It will work because if you become successful with it, then what happens?? You can leave your job, open it up for someone else. It creates a wonderful cycle that will put people back to work and not rely on the global and U.S. economy for whether or not you have a job in the morning or not.

So this is my first post, and my idea on how to get jobs back in the U.S. and lower our unemployment rate.
